Software
For software installs, we can help you pick the correct software for your task. For example, if you are looking for an Internet security suite, there are lots of tools to consider and it can be quite overwhelming. Some are free, some are paid. Some can perform X, Y, and Z while others can perform A, B, and C. In addition, different people expect different results from their software, so we spend the time to make sure you get something customized for you.
If you’re upgrading the OS on your computer, we can help you choose the right versions of Windows or OS X. We can also explain the pros and cons in choosing a particular operating system. For example, Windows 8 is Microsoft’s shiny new operating system, but it’s missing the sacred Start button and boots up to a fancy Start Screen instead of your normal desktop.
Hardware
On the hardware side, we can help you install a new graphics card if you want to play games on your PC or laptop, add a new hard drive that is bigger or that is faster (SSD), install more memory, add an optical drive, install printers and scanners, add and configure a network card or sound card, etc, etc. We can also swap out big ticket items like the power supply and motherboard if needed.
Also, if you want to perform an upgrade, but don’t understand what to buy, we can help you pick the right component for your system and even purchase it for you. We’ll only charge you the price we paid for the part and charge for labor.
